Organic and fair trade chocolate

Concerned about à greater solidarity and smaller impact on the environment, the Belvas Belgian chocolate factory, located in Ghislenghien, produces high-quality fair trade and organic chocolates ! The chocolate is certified fairtrade by Max Havelaar while Certisys ensures the biological origin of the production.

In order to make your mouth water with authentic, natural and varied flavors, Belvas uses only Fairtrade certified ingredients from around the world ! Belvas has opted for organic cocoa from Ecuador, Santo Domingo, Ghana and Peru. Organic duck sugar comes from Paraguay, and Colombia’s organic coffee and coconuts come directly from Sri Lanka ! A multitude of flavors from abroad, which become the perfect mix with fresh cream and organic butter from home.

Continually in search of new flavors, Belvas also conducts a research program in parallel with its activity in collaboration with the Gembloux Agribusiness University for the development of exclusively natural recipes !

Finally, the production is also respectful of the environment, which is why Belvas is the first ecological chocolate factory in Northern Europe. Indeed, Belvas is self-sufficient in energy for 70% of its needs thanks to an installation of 380 photovoltaic panels and a unique system for recovering the heat released by the air conditioning. The recovered hot air is transformed into hot water which will then be used to melt chocolate and butter during the production of pralines and truffles.
